A note on Clinton Hadsell….

Avon resident, Clinton B. Hadsell took photographs of Avon from 1889 to 1919, when Avon’s population was only about 1,000 people. He was born in Avon, CT on November 12, 1871, son of Samuel Hadsell and Jane Bradley Hadsell. Hadsell worked at the Climax Fuse Company (which later became Ensign Bickford Company) as foreman and inspector. He was chief inspector at the Avon plant until his retirement in 1927 following an auto accident. Hadsell’s descendants, Doris Miller and Seth Stewart, donated the photographs to the Avon Free Public Library.
